The AWD robotic mower is the best choice for your summer home

The AWD robotic mower is the best choice for your summer home

Lots of people own summer homes which they visit only during the warm season or on the weekends. Everyone needs a peaceful retreat to relax and to do their favorite things. There is a small problem though. The holiday homes need caring and attention as well. And that means work. For example the grass needs to be regularly cut.

In fact this is usual the first thing one must do when arriving at the scene on Friday evening after work. Isn’t it annoying that the arriving at your special place means that grass needs to be cut right away and you have no time to enjoy the well taken care of yard right when you arrive?

Luckily we have a solution for this based on my own experience.

Robotic Mowers for summer homes

As our company is a home robotics distributor and reseller it is obvious that the answer to the problem above lies in the robotic mowers.

It seems obvious that when you are not around a robotic mower that takes care of your yard is an ideal solution. There is a problem though. Robot mowers tend to get stuck. Me myself have had the annoying messages from the robotic mowers app right after leaving my summer home that it is stuck and needs to get help to get our of the problem.

Even if you have a robot in the form of a Wiper KS or Wiper KXLS that handle uneven ground better than most of the competitors, they still to get stuck in some odd places you would never expect them to do.

The solution here is an AWD robot mower. Having all four wheels with a motor makes it unlikely for a mower to get stuck. At least this is so with Wiper AWD robotic mowers.

I personally had the same problem with my country house. It is situated 200 kilometers from my city home and it was a pretty standard situation that a few days after I had left to the city the mower got stuck. This is obviously a pretty frustrating situation. You know instantly that the next time you go the grass has grown tall and you have to do the first mowing yourself. As robotic mowers are meant for maintaining the lawn and not cutting high grass you would have to do it yourself. If not, provided that your robot can cut the long grass, it would take at least a week for the grass to look beautiful again if not more.

So if you want to make sure your grass is cut and the probability of the robot to get stuck is minimized you should think about getting an AWD Wiper robotic mower.

Safe installations

Another thing to consider for robotic mowers and the summer homes is the quality of the installation. For sure it should be done by a professional who can spot the “risky” spots and delimit those from the mowing areas.

A safe installation is one where it has been made certain by the installer that the robot has no areas where it could get stuck. Also it is one where it has been made sure that it reaches the charging station 100 times of 100.

In order to achieve this, sometimes it is better to leave out some of the really small and tight areas. Or maybe not to include places that have a really soft ground and tend to flood after rains or are muddy.

Remember. The aim that the robot mower does not get stuck and is mowing whenever you arrive to your most favorite place in the world.

Model choice

When it comes down to choosing the right robot I would always recommend not going to the direction of picking a robotic mower which maximum mowing area equals to the actual garden that needs to be taken care of.

Choosing a bigger version so the robot does not have to work 24/7 is always the best idea. It doesn’t drain the machine as much and also leaves less room for it to get stuck.

The mower I use at my summer home is WIPER Premium Q350 SR which is meant for the maximum mower area of 3500 m² but I use it to cut 2000 m². This leaves enough time for the yard to be “mower free” and the certainty that the grass will be cut even when after years and years of work the batteries have begun to have less “juice” in them than in the beginning.

Here is a sample of how well an AWD robotic mower can handle unever ground. Don`t mind the snow the video is just for informational purposes.

The other AWD models in our range are KS AWD and KXLS AWD which bot have up to 6 years or 5000 work hours of warranty.

Another point to note that when choosing the right mower is the safety of children and animals. Especially with the AWD models. The AWD models have been designed in a way that they could work on rougher terrain. That means their sensors are not detecting lifted robots statuses as it is with the standard mowers. Also these models are really powerful. So this makes it essential not to have the AWD robotic mowers working when there are children or animals running around in the mowing area! Of course as the user manual states this is so with all the mowers but with the powerful AWD models it is even more so.
