Lawn preparations before a robotic mower installation

Lawn preparations before a robotic mower installation

In the following guide, we outline some guidelines that should be followed on your property before our installation service. This is to ensure that the installation proceeds smoothly and comfortably, and also to ensure that the lawn mower robot works problem-free thereafter.

We will quickly go over what our installation entails and how we guarantee a quality installation for you as a customer.

Location of the Charging Station

There should be an electrical outlet near the charging station. In addition, the work requester should ensure a location protected from direct rain to install the charging station adapter.

If it is not possible to protect the charging station from direct midday sun, you should also purchase a charging station cover or build a sunshade over the base yourself.

The lawn should be mowed before installation

Robotic lawn mowers are designed to work every day, continuously cutting just a small portion of the lawn’s length. The robot lawn mower can cut a maximum of 1 cm of grass at a time. In the case of longer grass or other vegetation, the robot may not be able to adequately handle the mowing and may get stuck due to a large obstacle.

In summary: if the grass is so high that the machine would have to mow more than 1 cm at a time, the first mowing should be done manually. Afterward, the mower will do the rest of the work independently. If the grass is still manageable for the robot mower, set the mowing height to the maximum and then gradually lower it to the desired level over the following weeks.

Such vegetation should definitely be mowed before installation.

Filling Holes

If there are holes in the lawn, they should be filled in advance with soil fill. The robot mower may get stuck in a hole or damage its blade there.

Molehills

If there are molehills on the lawn, they should be spread out before installation. This should also be done continuously throughout the mowing season. Molehills do not damage the robotic lawn mower but may interfere with its operation.
